You can reach the city of Ioannina by using one of the following airports and/or by bus from Athens or Thessaloniki.

Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos"

The airport is the major hub and base for the Olympic Air, as well as for Aegean Airlines. From there you can catch a flight to Ioannina or go by bus. The latter, while it can be cheaper, is not recommended as it may take up to an hour to get to the bus station and another six hours from there to get to Ioannina.

"Thessaloniki International Airport"

Several international flights arrive at the Thessaloniki International Airport every day. From there it is only 15 minutes to the bus station and another 3 hours to Ioannina.

"Ioannina National Airport"

There are 2 flights per day to and from Athens by Olympic Air and 2 more by Aegean Airlines. The flight takes approximately 55 minutes and provides a unique view above Ioannina!

Taxi to the city center:

You may take a taxi from the airport to the city center and to the Grand Serai Hotel. The cost is about 4 Euros for the ride plus 2.30 Euros airport surcharge. There is also 0.35 Euros for each large suitcase. The total should be about 7 Euros. It is advisable to ask the taxi driver for a receipt.

Please note that most destinations in the city (Castle, museums, restaurants etc) are within walking distance (10-15 min walk) for the conference venue.

Some interesting places include: the famous cave of Perama, the Island of Ioannina (it can be accessed with a ferry from the harbor) and the Filanthropinon Monastery, the Vrellis Greek History museum, the Litharitsia Park, the Paralimnio mall center, the restaurant and club in Limnopoula, the Nautakia club by the Lake.
