You can reach the city of Ioannina by using one of the following airports and/or by bus from Athens or Thessaloniki. Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" The airport is the major hub and base for the Olympic Air, as well as for Aegean Airlines. From there you can catch a flight to Ioannina or go by bus. The latter, while it can be cheaper, is not recommended as it may take up to an hour to get to the bus station and another six hours from there to get to Ioannina.
Several international flights arrive at the Thessaloniki International Airport every day. From there it is only 15 minutes to the bus station and another 3 hours to Ioannina. There are 2 flights per day to and from Athens by Olympic Air and 2 more by Aegean Airlines. The flight takes approximately 55 minutes and provides a unique view above Ioannina! BUS TRANSPORTATIONCentral Bus Station of Athens: +30-210-5129363 Taxi to the city center: You may take a taxi from the airport to the city center and to the Grand Serai Hotel. The cost is about 4 Euros for the ride plus 2.30 Euros airport surcharge. There is also 0.35 Euros for each large suitcase. The total should be about 7 Euros. It is advisable to ask the taxi driver for a receipt.
